A regular season opening contest at San Diego and a Monday night home game against NFC South rival Tampa Bay highlight the Carolina Panthers 2008 schedule released Tuesday by the National Football League. The Panthers begin the year on the road for the second consecutive season when they play the defending AFC West champion Chargers on September 7.

One of the bright spots in Carolina's 20-13 loss to Dallas on Saturday night at Bank of America Stadium was the play of linebacker Thomas Davis. Davis recorded the first interception of his NFL career when he stepped in front of a Tony Romo pass intended for Patrick Crayton early in the fourth quarter to go along with four tackles and one forced fumble on Cowboys running back Marion Barber in the first quarter.
